MAKE YOUR MORNING ROUTINE
ECO-FRIENDLY

Whether some people agree or not, climate change is real. The effects of this range from rising sea levels, bluer and greener oceans and even to shorter fries, as reported by the Climate Coalition.

That mankind is behind a lot of the growing issues is undeniable. But fortunately, there are quite a few habits that can be easily switched in your morning routine to save the climate. And fries.

1. The kitchen cupboard - your new spa

Over the years, skincare has become a worldwide obsession. And there’s nothing wrong with that – who wouldn’t want to wake up glowing like Kendall Jenner after a month on the sunny coast of Costa Rica?

However, whilst regular skincare products do leave us fresh and selfie ready, the environment may finds itself looking and feeling duller each morning. But because neither – your beauty or the environment – should suffer, we recommend checking your cupboard.

Although at first it may feel weird to apply breakfast ingredients right to your face and hair, your kitchen will soon become your new favourite beauty salon.

Immerse hair in coconut oil for luscious locks. Skin is calling for some love? Mix milk and oats with sea salt and use as a scrub – and we promise, no baby’s skin will be as soft and velvety as yours. Looking for more inspiration?

Replace the chemical-infused drugstore moisturiser with a bottle of cold-pressed argan oil (and don’t worry, you won't look like a greasy glazed doughnut). For plumper lips simply apply honey and sugar and exfoliate gently…unless you’ve already eaten it.

Not only will you treat both yourself and the nature, but also save money!

2. Say 'no' to single-use

No phrase can draw horror from a Gen Zer moreso than 'single-use'. From cotton pads to make-up removal wipes, the modern habit to dispose of everything right away has serious consequences on the environment.

So next time, instead of reaching for the regular skincare products, try some more environmentally friendly alternatives. A few of our favourites are these fully biodegradable bamboo cotton buds (vegan and eco-friendly – yay!), Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes and the sustainable make-up remover pads by Face Halo that only need a splash of water to get rid of even the thickest layer of waterproof mascara.

3. Ditch the paper cup

When running late, a quick coffee can often be the only solution to awake the inner warrior and get you ready for the day. But next time, rather than going for a latté in the regular paper cup (which, turns out, is not so recyclable after all), hand the barista a reusable coffee cup.

The market is full of these in different designs, and most coffee shops are happy to give you a discount when coming with your own cup. An energised you, a happy wallet, and a grateful environment!
