When's the last time you had one, a cup of freshly brewed coffee? Was it this morning? Yesterday? Last week? Chances are, you're amongst the 62% of Brits who have a coffee ritual at least once a day.

Coffee, indeed, has become a part of the modern lifestyle. It's quick, tasty, full of essential nutrients and looks perfect on your Instagram feed. But do we ever think about the consequences the growing demand for coffee has on the environment?

In the UK alone, more than 3 billion disposable coffee cups are thrown away each year. Of those, less than 1% is recycled. The story, however, doesn't stop just there.

As the environment and climate change have always been of great interest to me, I found these numbers and facts worrying. For that reason, I decided to use my Final Journalism Project as an opportunity to shine light on these issues. Send me an email if you would like to receive a private link to the documentary.

Are paper cups really as recyclable as we think they are?
